In 2018, KCinfertility has gifted over $13,000 in grants to KC couples struggling to build their family. Reading each application proved there is a significant need for our organization and we are so proud to help by proving support, education, resources and grants to those in our community.
This year’s Family Building Grant winners are:
- Lisa & Cameron Wiley
- Chandra Ramey & Andrew Schiller
- Rachel & Thomas Rasmussen
Congratulations to our winners!
Thank you again to all of our applicants and those that donated in our first ever Grant Drive. We poured over each application and were sincerely touched by every story. We will continue to hold you in our thoughts and would love to have you seek support in our other impact areas: attending our support group, participating in the upcoming 5k, or attending the next conference in April 2019.
KCinfertility’s mission is to provide community, education and support to those striving to build their families. The Foundation connects those affected by infertility to a community in which they are understood; we offer emotional support, financial aid and educational resources to that community.
A Quick Look at our 2018 Grant Winners:
Lisa & Cameron Wiley:
Our infertility journey started in January of 2014 when Lisa was diagnosed with severe endometriosis. Since then we have had 3 laparoscopic surgeries for endometriosis, 2 IUIs and 1 IVF cycle. We’ve always dreamed of being parents and with the help of this grant, that dream can become a reality. We’re going into 2019 with a new-found hope in our journey to becoming parents. We’ll be looking at adoption agencies as well as the possibility of private adoption. Thank you Kansas City Infertility for this incredibly generous gift!
Chandra Ramey & Andrew Schiller:
With the generous gift of KCIA’s Family Building Grant, we are one step closer to our dream of adopting a child. While our journey to adoption began with a story of infertility and fertility treatments, we know that adoption was meant to be our path all along. Going through infertility can be very lonely, but we have been uplifted by the support of the online community of KCIA throughout. Receiving the KCIA Family Building Grant will provide us with some much-needed financial assistance as we enter the adoption process; it also means so very much to us to have the support and validation of this community as we write this new chapter in our lives. Thank you for the vote of confidence in us, and for filling us full of hope and excitement!
Rachel & Thomas Rasmussen:
We have been attempting to get pregnant through several different types of fertility treatments for over three and a half years. Insurance has only covered part of the treatment, and we are quickly draining our savings. This grant money will help tremendously for our next round of treatment, and we are so thankful that we were chosen to receive it!
